“Your enemies a footstool…”

How many different places do we read about God’s promise to Jesus that he will make his enemies a footstool for his feet? At least a couple. But have you ever thought about it, like get the symbolism of it, and appreciate that by being on the right team, you too can reap the benefits of having victory over your enemies by association? Yeah, I’m at it again, thinking. It’s been on my mind all morning. Like so many people anger me, so many wrongs, injustices, shorts, and plain old evils have come upon me, and I know what I should do–more importantly what I should not do. I keep coming back to the thought, the vision of my own personal victory and what it would look like in each instance. I mean, I’m living in victory right now, truth be told. Somebody who never expected it is hating on me as we speak because I’m so blessed, and I’m gonna try not to let that joy consume me to the point where I lose focus on all the work I have ahead of me to stay on the right side of good. It’s nice to pause and visit that fuzzy space though.

Picture briefly the concept of some big, bad, mean, dishonest, or otherwise unsavory character in distress because you will have risen above their petty antics and dodged their best tactics meant to destroy, humiliate or mutilate you. Imagine that face grimacing as your smile grows wider and brighter in joy. You may never see their anguish, but you will know that you are walking in victory, so you’ll feel it.

I know it was said to Jesus, and I know it is on the way in worldwide fashion, but by choosing wisely, living righteously, staying close to God, imitating Jesus, and praying for a pure heart, you and I can get some of that Perfect justice that makes life sweeter in little morsels every day. Don’t be bitter, consumed, downtrodden, or worry. Be better, faithful, decent, loving, patient (working on it for real), and seek God’s kingdom. Be active, prayerful, humble, be spiritual. And watch what happens for you. Use your energy for good at all times. You’re not weak. You’re obedient. Stand and know that you are winning.

This is something else I thought about a lot today: Never limit yourself because of others’ limited imagination; never limit others because of your own limited imagination. – Mae Jemison (astronaut). Stay on your path, and don’t worry about anybody else’s. Sometimes we start together and disconnect. Sometimes we figure out we were never on the same road. It’s all good. You’re going where you’re supposed to go, with people like yourself. There’s no worse feeling on earth than feeling alone. Stay on your path.

Don’t ask me why or what–it just comes and I just go with it. On my path….
