Furlough fear?

I was talking to a friend this morning, and as usual the topic of furlough came up. All the meetings, emails, and talk about sequestration seem to be disturbing people, and I hadn’t given it any thought at all because I figured a solution would present itself. But even if it doesn’t, I shall not fear. I hope you’re not losing hair or sleep either. I ask you, to whom do you belong? How many times have you been delivered to date?

I know I’ve seen grace and mercy every day for years, so taking nothing for granted, I know I’m loved and will therefore be sustained regardless of what politicians say or do, because of who my Father is. Jehovah has never let me down. I remind you now to look at the flowers more closely, breathe in the air that sustains life, and take note of the birds and other tiny things that do not work anywhere yet are provided for. Seek comfort from the Divine Comforter, stay close to him, and continue to fulfill your individual purpose. Anxiety is a disease for those with little or no faith. It’s clearly not for you.

And be smart. Help yourself by examining your spending for unnecessary, frivolous, or nonessential expenditures and stop that stuff. Consider this a wake-up call to check yourself. Yes, you are most likely the source of your own anxiety. Dial things back, plan better, save more, step up your sales game, barter, do something different. But do not let your peace be disturbed by what may come. You still have work to do, so do it. Consolidate. If that means joining forces with family members, roommates, or car pooling, do it. Stay out of the carry out and go to Costco, Sam’s or somewhere and cook. If it makes sense, do it. I’m not saying panic, I’m saying fix what is already a problem you should’ve already fixed. Feel me? Now get back to work.
