Tough Times Call for Due Diligence

Gone are the days when pros just do the right thing because they have good work ethic, appreciate their customers, and love what they do. Very few are concerned with forming relationships with you and getting years of referrals for great service. It’s tough out here; there are bad apples in every discipline from law to medicine to veterinary care to contracting….

This is the age of scams, fraud and the one-hitter-quitter job. As a customer, it’s up to YOU to make sure you’re hiring the right people, getting what you pay for, and staying on schedule and budget. Do your research. Read up on the job. And be realistic. What should the job cost in your area? How long should it take? What credentials should the pro have?

If you’re not interested in or able to monitor your own projects, or if you lack the expertise to manage the project, hire someone to protect your interests. I can hear you thinking, “Why do I need to hire somebody else if I have a contractor?” You don’t navigate complex legal matters without representation. You can’t diagnose medical or dental issues with any certainty. Construction and renovation are also specialties requiring extensive education and experience. You need a project manager who does NOT work for the contractor. Because whose interests are they protecting?

That’s where I come in. I am a licensed real estate professional. Houses are my business; making them feel like home is what I love to do. I help you form the vision, in great detail. I’m also your Advocate/Project Manager. I speak the language, I know more than they think I do, and I’ll absolutely speak up to ensure you get what you asked for, on time, within budget. And I’ve got time to hang out on site watching and asking questions. If any issues arise (they usually do), you’ll be informed promptly and given options for resolution. Stop choosing your pros based on emotion or bias, then trusting them to look out for you.

You work hard for your money. Invest it wisely. Be informed. Do your research. Interview contractors. Get multiple (3 is good) bids. If you hire me, we’ll do that part together. We’ll come up with a plan and execute it. Home should be your refuge and where you go to recharge. Let’s get you all the way together. I’m ready when you are.
