How Do I Cut the Cable Cord?

Look, I’ve been practicing for this question. 🤣😂🤣 So to cut the cord without regret, you need stable wi-fi, and a lineup of streamers that captures all your TV interests, right…but don’t commit before you investigate. You could reasonably pay $20-$40/month for streaming services and get everything you care about.

I did YouTube TV for $70ish during football season, but I can get what I care about much cheaper, after football season. I’m not personally into the premium premium channels, but even with that, check for promotions often. Everybody’s competing for your attention. And don’t be afraid to leverage your current provider for a discount to keep you.

Ok there’s Peacock Premium (about $6) for current NBC shows and older mixed stuff.

Hulu gets you the newest ABC and Fox shows. You can get it bundled with Disney+ and ESPN for like $14 and Verizon has a promotion that gives it free with your cell plan, unless it ended. Alone it’s probably like $7. On Disney+ we watch shows the day they are released. We are so hooked on the new Percy Jackson episodes! One comes out today. Can’t wait. Most of these with current shows are delayed a day after live broadcast. Minimal commercials though.

Discovery Plus ($6-$7) gets you home and cooking shows, TLC plus some nature and educational stuff. The HGTV home and garden shows are leaning now toward Max ($7), so you get the newest there. You may have to wait a sec to see certain shows on Discovery Plus. Then you get like 8 episodes at a time.

Paramount Plus (roughly $7) gets you CBS shows, some BET stuff and something else I forget right now. With this you can watch your local CBS channel live all the time, and get shows on demand.

If you’re a Prime customer, you might as well look there for endless free stuff to watch. They’ve got live channels, Freevie, and so much more.

Samsung Plus for Samsung TV and phones is stepping up their offerings of live older shows and networks. I think they have on-demand now.

Pluto is also live, free and old, with on-demand titles too.

If you’re determined to surf channels for a fee, look at Philo TV. It’s like $25.

I’ve been researching this stuff for the last 2 years and I finally got it to my liking. You can do it. At first, you may feel like you’re missing something, but I assure you it’s the scroll you miss. With the right collection of streaming services, you can watch every episode of anything you ever cared about. Hope you find your package.
