From Timeless Thoughts & Words of Wisdom From the Mind of Tonya D. Floyd, Volume 1:
278. If you’re behind the horse’s ass, you will always be shoveling shit out of your path. Desperate times call for desperate measures, and if things around me start to stink—you know, when shit piles up to the point where it’s obvious to people around me despite that glowing smile—I have to take a moment for maintenance, because those are the times when I feel like I no longer want to be a lady about it; whatever I think you are, I’m calling you out. But I realize that being a lady isn’t optional; you either are or you’re not. Allowing yourself to be taken out of your character, led into a less pleasant disposition, or maneuvered into thoughtless acts is unacceptable. Why let it go that far?
Pretending to be something you’re not? Stop lying; get indignant if that’s what you feel. Be a lady and shut it down in most lady-like fashion the first time the stuff starts to roll your way, and every time after that. Don’t keep positioning yourself at the back end of that horse’s ass, or you’ll always be shoveling shit out of your path. You’re way better than that. Of course it will always be there, but the key is to stay ahead of it. If you see them coming, shut them down.
279. I have no great and wondrous events, no funny anecdotes, not even a word about loving others today. What I do have is an abundance of self-awareness right now. I go through this occasionally; I just feel like it’s all about me—finding, fixing, indulging in, and appreciating me. I’m not catering or compromising, or even interacting unless I feel like it. I’m not willing to accept minimal offers of satisfaction for me; I want what I want, and I want it now, if not sooner. There is no middle here; not interested in halfway. Put up, or peace out.
