Lessons I Learned From the Fire…
THenriquez, Sept 2025 (MD): Ever wondered what you’d do if your house was involved in a severe fire? We may know ppl or seen stories on the news but what happens after the fire? What should you do in case of a fire while things are calm and normal if you own a home? I just finished Ms. Tonya Floyd’s book and it answers most of those questions. What you should expect and when. It tells of her experience of the loss of her home right here in Maryland. It can happen to any of us. It is a short and easy read. Like reading a letter from a big sibling of her lessons learned. Tonya I finished your book and it was very well written and put together. Full of info good to know even beforehand. I hope you don’t mind that I shared my thoughts on ND and forwarded your website if they were interested in getting a copy.

MFloyd, Sept 2025 (NC): “WOW! I don’t know if this book confirms what I already knew or is preparing me for what I am getting ready to do. My ex-husband is trying to sell our “marital home” with all of it’s  pre-purchase problems and I am in the process of renovating a fixer-upper. LESSONS I LEARNED FROM THE FIRE- A CAUTIONARY TALE by Tonya D Floyd is a must read for ANYONE who owns a home, is getting ready to purchase a home, get insurance, has insurance. Is a renter with insurance or, you are making a major purchase with or without insurance.
DISCLAIMER: Tonya D. Floyd is my “forever” niece and I purchased this book because she wrote it. She has many books but this was the one I was “lead” to get and I had the funds to purchase. But, just because she is family does not mean I will not give an honest review. Generally speaking, when friends ask me to review their books and I take the time to read it then I will post the review on my blog, the cost for my time, but I will not post it on Social Media. Twice in the 10 plus years I have been reviewing books have I not posted a review on Amazon because it was that bad, one of the two I did not post on my blog, she was a good friend and a member of the church I attended; both books were trashed upon completion.  LESSON’S I LEARNED FROM THE FIRE will not be trashed.
Half way through this 30 page booklet, I started “hating” it! BECAUSE it was information I needed to know and I hate being a grown-up. Each of the nine lessons presented in this book I needed to know or be reminded of. Her story, Tonya D Floyd’s, life  lessons, learned the hard way, reinforce the importance of understanding EVERY document you sign. No one plans an accident and some accidents can be avoided, if you take the right steps. We think of insurance as a cushion, but there are unknown variables.  Not knowing, not understanding is costly!
In addition to rereading the book, and marking it up as I like to do, I plan on purchasing at least 3 copies for gifts for 3 individuals who I know are planning to purchase a home. Truth is I don’t hate-hate the book, I really love and appreciate it, I just don’t like being a grown up.
I recommend you purchase the book, even if all you have is renters insurance. That fine print will bite you if you need it and discover to late your claims don’t qualify. Ask people who live in disaster areas.”

Jimmie H, May 2014 (MD): “I think you did a great service to woman in that book–about knowing themselves, what type of woman they are, being sexy, making life decisions, and being imperfectly perfect.”

Timeless Thoughts & Words of Wisdom
From the Mind of Tonya D. Floyd, Volumes 1 and 2
JFlo, April 2012 (MD): “This lady is AWESOME. All of her books are straight talk – no chaser! This particular book makes you think and helps you to understand that you are not by yourself and actually all of her books gives you the same feeling. She keeps it real and if you are a lady and/or man, you know EXACTLY what she is talking about and most likely you have already been where she has been… The difference is like Steve Harvey, she is putting it out there to give everybody a heads up on the game that is being played and then on the flip side, the game you can’t avoid called LIFE! Take a look – read her books. This sista is laying it on the table! Take care to one and all…”

Nothing New Under the Sun
L.C., July 2013 (MD): Girl, I read halfway through the book. I have to say this to you…YOU ARE TALENTED AND GIFTED!! I’m like I work with this woman, who can write her ….. off!!! Okay so back to the book. I remember flipping thru the pages of the book and glance reading, when I was supposed to be reading the book. I now remember that some of things that I glance read hit home and that’s probably why I put the book down and never picked it back-up to read it. Back then I wasn’t ready to read things that reminded me of some things I experienced either “directly or indirectly”.  Girl….over the 4th of July weekend, I was being a lazy couch potato just laying around. I was feeling like I can read this book and be okay with the stories/characters that remind me of folks that I might not want to remember. Anyway I laid on my sofa reading the book. I could not read fast enough, because I’m so pressed to know what’s going to happen next. I don’t remember names right now, but the sister with the attorney/lawyer husband….he’s a trip. The couple with husband traveling to do shows and then she has a young side kick…girl… I got the story of I think Tammy and Fred? I felt like I know or knew how the story was going to end because I can relate to their story, but I haven’t finished that chapter/story. I can’t wait to finish the rest of the book this weekend. Sometimes during my reading of the book, I relate to the story and/or character(s) and I stop/pause reading. Other times I was like, “it is what it is”…..”life”….and I just kept reading to see exactly how this story is going to end. I love your details and your characters are women I can relate to in someway shape or form; and men that I’ve had in my life good or bad… KEEP USING YOUR GIFT AND BLESSING US WITH YOUR TALENT…!!!  I used to read more back in the late 80s and early 90s. I was reading E. Lynn Harris. I went to school with a guy named Darren Coleman and I’ve read some his books. NOW I CAN SAY….I’ve been reading Tonya D. Floyd…!!!!

LDavis, September 2011 (MD): “LOVED IT! WOW! Captivating, thought provoking, genuinely funny…some of the words that come to mind when I think of this book. I literally had to leave this book at home or I found myself sneaking to read it. The characters were genuine and I could relate to each of their stories in one way or another. Every woman will be able to. This was not just another book full of foolish drama or the world’s view of women. This book encompasses the passion of the everyday real woman, her life, her worries, her ability to love unconditionally, her ability to adjust in every situation, etc. My least favorite chapter was the last one.  The author seemed to go on a little too long about the character’s unhappiness with her career. However, the humor used to deal with her situation will have your sides splitting. I would definitely recommend this book to others and I have. 4.5 Stars!!!!!”

CDangerfield, August 2011 (MD): “REALLY! There is “Nothing New Under the Sun.” It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book so captivating and one that I’ve finished in such a short period of time (3 nights). Nothing New Under the Sun is a thoroughly engrossing, simply riveting book that I am very happy to have read. I found myself constantly picking up the book to read at every opportunity that I could. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. This book is definitely a page turner. Tonya, girl, you put your foot in this book. I am really looking forward to a sequel….soon I hope. Thank you.”

SHarris, August 2011 (MD): “The main characters are excellently written, which is what I have come to expect from Tonya Floyd, she writes very unique, four – dimensional, and compelling leading people each and every time, this book is no exception. I love the four stories. The relationship in each stories develops in such a natural, believable and genuine way that is not always easy to capture or portray. The author did a wonderful job of drawing the readers into all four stories. All in all, this was a great book, one of the best I’ve read in a while. I would recommend anyone to buy it. Who know you might see your self in one of the stories.”

CUnderwood, July 2011 (NC): “When I read this book I had the crazy feeling that I knew these people. I cared about these characters and wondered about them when I was away from the book. Then Tonya gave me what readers everywhere crave, resolution. We get to walk away knowing that our new friends are okay. Or not. Make sure you download your copy of Nothing New Under the Sun by Tonya D. Floyd.”
